    The Montessori School of Englewood is seeking experienced, dedicated, mission aligned Lower Elementary Teachers for our new Chicago-based Montessori charter school, for the 2014-2015 school year. We are currently operating as a prek-4 school growing into a prek-8 school. The Lead teachers are responsible for the implementation of Montessori instruction and pedagogy and will work in collaboration with the MSE support team.

    The Montessori School of Englewood is a public Montessori school located in the Englewood neighborhood of Chicago.Central to the MSE mission are three cornerstones:

    We will build trusting relationships at the Montessori School of Englewood.
    We will grow the whole person within our Montessori community.
    We will reflect on evidence to shape our practices around how best to grow the members of our community.

    Eduaction and/or Experience

    1. Batchelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; and at least 3 years of successful teaching in age group assigned in a Montessori classroom.

    2. Elementary Montessori certification and training

    3. Appropriately credentialed or willing to work towards illinois State Certification

    1. Strong committment to bringing an authentic Montessori education to an underserved community.

    2. Strong understanding of instructional strategies and classroom management

    3. Strong understanding of literacy and math development in children.

    4. Strong understanding of how to use multiple forms of assessment in informing and driving instruction.

    5. Passion for teaching and working with students from urban communities, with specific knowledge and understanding of the needs of students from different experiences.

    6. Able to work in a creative, challenging and dynamic learning environment.

    Other Qualifications

    1. Strong understanding of Montessori methods and able to effectively integrate other best practices with the Montessori method

    2. Strong understanding of early chidhood development and pedagogy.
    3. Able to manage adults in an effective and respectful manner

    4. Candidate must be an effective instructional coach and be able to lead professional development.
